Enhancing the role of institutional investors
in infrastructure financing

Under the aegis of the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) and within the framework of the OECD Project on Institutional Investors and Long-Term Investment, the OECD organised a high-level seminar on “Enhancing the Role of Institutional Investors in Infrastructure Financing” in Palembang, Indonesia on 29 August 2013. The seminar was co-hosted by the Indonesian Ministry of Finance and held back-to-back with the APEC Workshop on Infrastructure on 28 August 2013.
This meeting focused on:
- Introducing and discussing OECD work on institutional investors and long-term financing, including the latest research, policy analysis, best practices and country case studies
- Discussing and formulating policy measures and initiatives to address constraints to infrastructure investment identified by APEC work under the Indonesian presidency and G20 work under the Russian presidency, with a particular focus on institutional investors
- Addressing the implementation of the OECD High-level Principles on Long-Term Investment Financing by Institutional Investors in APEC countries.
Participants included high-level representatives of pension funds, insurance companies and sovereign wealth funds, as well as high-level officials and experts from ministries of finance, central banks and international organisations.
